Project: Private House Renovation
Grade: Laminated Vulcan VG (Vertical Grain)
Profile: Board on Board 20 x 145mm and 20 x 68mm, fine sawn finish.
Coating: Abodo Teak Oil
Abodo is the UK’s first verified Carbon Negative timber cladding. Abodo Vulcan is a thermally modified product from New Zealand with very low knot content – almost entirely knot and defect free.
Through the thermal modification process, the timber is super-dry and super-stable with durability class 1. The timber is FSC Certified plantation grown and is a renewable alternative to some of the old growth timbers, such as traditional timber cladding species such as Canadian Western Red Cedar and Siberian Larch.
One key feature of the product is the patented vertical grain construction. This combined with the Thermal modification process permanently changes both the chemical, and physical properties of the timber.
On this project the request was for both section sizes of timber to be factory coated with Abodo Teak Protector Oil, 2 coats applied to all faces prior to delivery. Ensuring a consistent finish and allowing site to work with the material straight away.
